Peter Lyons

Peter Lyons is Vice President and General Counsel for Global Trust Company-GTC and Northeast Retirement Services (NRS). He brings more than 25 years of experience serving as senior counsel for major financial services firms. 

Peter has been General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of GTC since its inception in 2009. He is also Corporate Secretary and General Counsel for the Savings Bank Employee Retirement Association (SBERA), and NRS. He has extensive experience in compliance, risk management, contract review, fiduciary, and ERISA matters.

Prior to joining GTC/NRS, Peter was General Counsel and Senior Vice President of the Savings Banks Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts. He was an Executive Committee Member of the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts (LIAM) and served as Chairman of the LIAM Regulatory Affairs Committee. Peter has also been a Board Member of both the Massachusetts Life and Health Guaranty Association and the Rhode Island Life and Health Guaranty Association.

A graduate of Boston College, Peter earned his JD with honors from Suffolk University Law School. In 2001, he was selected as one the of the Top 15 General Counsels in the US by “House Counsel Magazine.”
